Time Clock Calculator
Find an expected clock-out time for your paid-hours target.
What the clock-out calculation adds together
The calculator starts at the clock-in time, adds the paid-hours target, then adds any unpaid break because unpaid time still extends the elapsed time before the workday ends.
clock-out time = clock-in time + paid duration + unpaid break
Worked example
Clocking in at 8:00 AM for 8 paid hours with a 30-minute unpaid break gives a 4:30 PM clock-out time.
8:00 AM + 8 hr + 30 min = 4:30 PM
If the sum passes midnight, the calculator wraps into the next day and displays the resulting clock time.
Paid time and elapsed time are not the same
An eight-hour paid target with a 30-minute unpaid break requires eight and a half hours of elapsed time. That distinction is why adding the break is necessary when finding the expected clock-out time.
What this tool does not account for
- unscheduled interruptions or additional breaks;
- paid-break policies;
- rounding or punch rules used by a specific employer;
- the calendar date when a result crosses midnight.
