Weekly work time

Time Card Calculator

Enter clock-in and clock-out times for each day, subtract unpaid breaks, and see the weekly total with optional overtime and pay arithmetic.

Step 1

Daily entries

Leave days blank when no time was worked. Overnight shifts are supported.

Monday
Daily total 0 hr 0 min

Tuesday
Daily total 0 hr 0 min

Wednesday
Daily total 0 hr 0 min

Thursday
Daily total 0 hr 0 min

Friday
Daily total 0 hr 0 min

Saturday
Daily total 0 hr 0 min

Sunday
Daily total 0 hr 0 min

Step 2

Pay settings

Rate is optional. Threshold and multiplier are editable arithmetic inputs.

How the weekly time card is totaled

Each completed day is calculated independently from clock-in, clock-out, and unpaid break values. Blank days count as zero. Daily worked minutes are then added together to produce the weekly total.

weekly worked minutes = sum of valid daily worked minutes

Keeping the daily rows separate makes it easier to spot a missing punch, an overnight shift, or a break value that needs correction before the weekly total is trusted.

How regular and overtime buckets are calculated

After the week is totaled, Hourformula compares total hours with the threshold you enter. Hours up to the threshold stay in the regular bucket; only the positive remainder goes into the overtime bucket.

regular hours = min(total hours, threshold)

overtime hours = max(total hours − threshold, 0)

The default threshold is 40 hours because it is a common arithmetic example, but the field is editable and the calculator does not determine which threshold legally applies.

Pay is optional

If you enter an hourly rate, the calculator estimates regular pay and overtime pay using the multiplier you provide. Leave the rate blank when you only want a time total.

estimated overtime pay = overtime hours × hourly rate × multiplier

The estimate does not include taxes, deductions, bonuses, premiums, employer rounding rules, or other payroll adjustments.

Example weekly total

If five completed days total 42 hours and the selected threshold is 40 hours, the arithmetic split is 40 regular hours and 2 overtime hours. At $20 per hour with a 1.5 multiplier, the overtime portion is 2 × $20 × 1.5 = $60.
