How elapsed time is measured
Enter the start and end clock times. If the end is later, the calculator subtracts directly. If the end is earlier, Hourformula treats the end as occurring after midnight on the following day.
duration = end time − start time, with one overnight rollover when needed
Worked examples
9:15 AM to 11:45 AM is 2 hr 30 min. For an overnight example, 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM is 8 hr.
The result is also shown as decimal hours and total minutes when those formats are useful elsewhere.
Duration is not automatically work time
The calculator measures elapsed time only. It does not subtract lunch or other breaks and does not decide whether the duration is paid.
