How to Count Working Days in a Month
Hourformula's Working Days in Month Calculator counts every Monday through Friday in the selected calendar month.
Working days in month = number of Monday–Friday dates in that month
Saturday and Sunday are excluded. Public holidays, leave days, and organization-specific closures are not subtracted automatically.

How the count works
Start on the first date of the selected month.
Move through every date until the month ends.
Add one to the total whenever the date falls on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday.
Add zero for Saturday or Sunday.
Example: February 2026
February 2026 has 28 calendar days, which is exactly four full seven-day weeks.
Four weeks contain:
4 × 5 weekdays = 20 working days
So Hourformula returns:
February 2026 = 20 Monday–Friday working days
Counting Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
A schedule that uses only Monday, Wednesday, and Friday is different from a standard Monday–Friday workweek. To count its workdays, look at the calendar for the exact month and year, then count only dates that fall on those three weekdays. Do not assume every month has the same number of each weekday.
February 2026: Monday falls on the 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd; Wednesday on the 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th; and Friday on the 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th.
4 Mondays + 4 Wednesdays + 4 Fridays = 12 scheduled weekdays
By comparison, January 2026 has 13 Monday/Wednesday/Friday dates: 4 Mondays, 4 Wednesdays, and 5 Fridays. The exact total depends on the month's starting weekday and length.
Hourformula's Working Days in Month Calculator counts all Monday–Friday weekdays, not a selected set of weekdays. It returns 20 for February 2026, not 12. For a custom Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule, count the matching calendar dates yourself; subtract any holidays, leave, or closures separately.
Why monthly totals vary
Months contain 28, 29, 30, or 31 calendar days and can begin on any weekday.
Those differences determine how many Mondays through Fridays appear before the month ends.
A typical monthly weekday total is around 20 to 23 days, but the exact value should be calculated from the actual year and month rather than assumed.

These are weekday counts only. They are not adjusted for holidays or shutdowns.
Working days are not guaranteed staffed or paid days
A weekday count answers a calendar question: how many Monday-through-Friday dates occur in the month.
It does not determine how many days a particular person works, how many days an organization opens, or how many paid days apply.
Those outcomes require schedules, holidays, leave, and other information outside this calculator.
What about holidays?
The Working Days in Month Calculator does not have an excluded-dates input.
Therefore a weekday holiday still appears in its weekday total.
