How to read this chart
The final column preserves clock-style hours and minutes while the middle column is decimal.
Two hour formats in one chart
This chart shows the same minute duration in two forms: decimal hours and hours plus remaining minutes. The two outputs describe the same amount of time but are useful for different tasks.
Hours-and-minutes notation is easier to read as a duration. Decimal hours are often easier to multiply or add in numerical calculations.
Example
Ninety minutes is 1 hr 30 min. Dividing 90 by 60 also gives 1.50 decimal hours.
90 minutes = 1 hr 30 min = 1.50 hours
Precision note
The hours-and-minutes form preserves the listed minute value exactly. Decimal values that do not terminate cleanly may be rounded for display, so keep the original minutes when exact duration is important.
